Patti’s journey to recovery from her eating disorder was sparked by her sister’s death. Patti realized that life was too short to keep hurting herself, her family and the people that loved her. Through education, meditation, writing poetry, seeing a counselor, working on being ok with not being in control, and ditching the scale and beauty magazines, she has been able to continue on that path. This is Patti’s story of how her recovery is an ongoing journey in which she continuously learns about herself.
Eating disorders are serious, complex mental illnesses that can impact anyone. With support and treatment, full recovery is possible.
Eating Disorders Awareness Week is a nationally recognized week designed to raise awareness of eating disorders. In Canada, it is held February 1-7, 2017
The events for Eating Disorders Awareness Week are presented with support from the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
